National Commercial law firm Harper James Solicitors has announced the latest in a raft of senior management appointments with the arrival of Intellectual Property & Technology Partner Rob Cobley who joins the firm with immediate effect.
With particular experience working with technology and IP rich businesses - from crowd funded start-ups through to large multi-nationals – Rob’s new role will see him operate across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
He joins Harper James, which has grown from 1 partner to 5 since the start of the year, from Harrison Clark Rickerbys where he was based for nine years as Partner and head of Intellectual Property & IT.
Commenting on his new position Rob said: “The Harper James service model is a potential game-changer for any business whether you are a start-up or multi-national. It creates great client relationships by giving businesses access to the right commercially focussed legal advice at the right time in a way which works at all levels of growth. That’s particularly exciting in the field I work in, and I’m looking forward to providing specialist advice to Harper James’ growing clientele.”
Harper James has grown rapidly since it was founded in 2014, with the team now made up of more than 40 Partners, Solicitors and support staff.
Its unique business model includes a monthly service plan targeted at start-ups and SMEs (known as Enterprise) and other innovative methods of providing, and charging for, legal services specifically aimed at larger, more established businesses.
Harper James CEO, Toby Harper, added: “Rob joins the team at an exciting time for the firm which continues to grow as an increasing number of businesses identify with and see the benefits of our unique legal services offering.
“It’s great to welcome Rob to the team and I have no doubt that his experience working in Intellectual Property and Technology throughout his career will contribute to the further growth and successes of the firm, particularly in bolstering and supporting our wider West Midlands offerings.”
"Im delighted to have taken on this new role and to be working with the Harper James team to deliver the expertise and innovative legal service provision to clients that the firm is renowned for."
