Chambers 2017 recognises Forbes Social Housing Team with top rankings

Forbes Solicitors’ is celebrating after its Housing & Regeneration Team and four of its lawyers were highly ranked in the prestigious Chambers 2017Guide.

Forbes was ranked as Band 1 for Social Housing, with Lucy Worrall and Sarah Mansfield also achieving Band 1 status, Stuart Penswick Band 2 and Lachlan McLean ranked as Up and Coming.

Chambers has been ranking the best lawyers since 1990, and now covers 185 jurisdictions.

It ranks both lawyers and law firms based on the research of 170 full-time editors and researchers employed at its head office in London. They talk to lawyers and clients all the year round, conducting in-depth telephone interviews.

Lucy Worrall is Partner and Head of Housing and Regeneration (property) at Forbes Solicitors.

Sarah is a social housing expert with over 23 years’ of experience.

Stuart is a Partner in the firm and is the Head of the litigation section of the Housing and Regeneration Department.

Lachlan is a Partner and Solicitor-Advocate specialising in housing management and leasehold.

All four are based in Preston.

Explaining the rankings, Chambers said the team is known for being a growing department providing property, governance, employment and housing management services to an enviable list of national registered providers. Recent work includes a number of complex antisocial behaviour cases.

It lists strengths as:

"They are friendly, professional, extremely effective advocates who always seek the best possible outcome."

"They have invested a lot of time and energy in building effective working relationships with clients."

Work highlights include obtaining the first without notice injunction at Preston Country Court under the provisions of the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 on behalf of Twin Valley, to stop the behaviour of a tenant who had physically assaulted a neighbour and damaged their property.

Forbes also secured five antisocial behaviour injunctions for Chevin Housing Association against individuals who had caused numerous complaints from neighbours due to drunken, abusive and violent behaviour.

Earlier this year Forbes Solicitors received 31 recommendations for its lawyers and services in the 2016 Legal 500 rankings, with Lucy Worrall included in the elite "Leading Lawyers" list for Real Estate and Social Housing.

She said: “We are delighted to be recognised by such a prestigious publication as Chambers 2017, which is another endorsement of the work the whole team at Forbes is doing.”

Forbes is one of the leading law firms in the North with 320 staff including 39 partners and nine offices

Office locations include Preston, Manchester, Leeds, Blackburn (three), Accrington, Central Lancashire and Chorley.
