Broudie Jackson Canter launches housing practice in Manchester City Centre

North West law firm Broudie Jackson Canter, part of the Jackson Lees Group, has launched a new housing division in the heart of Manchester city centre.

Based from the firm’s Manchester Piccadilly office, the practice is a stone’s throw from Manchester Crown Court. As a registered legal aid solicitors, the team will provide specialist legal services to both private clients and those who qualify for legal aid.

The practice will provide legal assistance across a range of issues including homelessness, housing disrepair, tenancy deposits, possession proceedings and eviction – providing those in need with access to justice in central Manchester.

The team will be headed by Jackson Lees Group’s Head of Housing & Social Welfare, Nina Patel, who has over 18 years’ experience specialising in complex housing cases, particularly those arising from mental health or capacity issues.

Nina is also a Trustee for Local Solutions, a charity that supports disadvantaged individuals, families and communities with a primary focus on those experiencing exclusion and vulnerability.

Nina Patel said: “Our housing team has a wealth of experience working with clients facing a variety of complex legal housing issues.  We know there is huge need in Manchester - particularly for legal aid housing specialists to support people who may be at risk of becoming homeless.

“We already have a great network of partner organisations across the city that we work with closely to ensure people – particularly those who may be vulnerable - are supported by outstanding legal professionals when they need it most. We’re looking forward to building on this base and creating a best-in-class service for people in the city centre.”
