Fletchers Solicitors is on the hunt for next cohort of talented apprentices

Fletchers Solicitors, the UKs leading medical negligence and serious injury firm, is now accepting applications for its 2018 legal apprenticeship scheme.

Fletchers Solicitors is on the hunt for next cohort of talented apprentices

The firm will be accepting applications made online or via email before 30 April 2018, and successful candidates will start work at the firm this September.

The six-year Trailblazer solicitor apprenticeship, in partnership with The University of Law (ULaw), aims to give aspiring young trainees, who may have found the financial cost of a traditional university route a deterrent, the opportunity to have a successful career in law.

The scheme will allow students to learn on the job, whilst completing an undergraduate degree (LLB), a Master’s degree (LLM), and a Legal Practice Course (LPC) at ULaw, as well as a period of recognised training along the way.

The scheme enables students to qualify while earning a salary, which will rise at various stages of progression, meaning participants don’t have to pay for tuition fees and can, instead, earn while they learn.

Bruce Wignall, a current Trailblazer apprentice, recently won Business Administration Apprentice of the Year at the Southport College Apprenticeship Star Awards, and said that the scheme has given him the opportunity to pursue his dream career:

“The trailblazer route gives me the chance to learn on the job whilst avoiding tuition fees. I enjoy the work/study balance and this path really works for me. I was delighted to recently receive the Business Apprentice of the Year award and am extremely grateful to Fletchers and Southport College for the opportunities that have come my way, as it was my initial apprenticeship that made me want to progress to the trailblazer scheme.”

Nicola Winslett, head of legal technical support, also won Higher Management Apprentice of the Year at the Southport College Apprenticeship Star Awards on 13th March.

Ed Fletcher, CEO at Fletchers Solicitors, said: “We’ve long advocated the investment in young talent, as part of our long-term plan to ‘grow our own’ people and harness talent within the firm that fits in with our core values. I think it’s incredibly important that we encourage diversity in the law profession – not everyone can afford the burden of spending years at university so an apprenticeship is a great alternative.

“We have now been running our innovative Trailblazer scheme for two years, during which time we’ve had the privilege of training some of the sector’s brightest potential lawyers. This year, we are continuing with our dedication to offer greater employment and training opportunities to future apprentices so that they can have a successful career in law, without the financial burden.”
