MLP Law strengthens senior team to support continued growth

MLP Law strengthens senior team to support continued growth

Leading commercial and private client law firm,  MLP Law, has strengthened its growing team with the appointment of a new legal director and head of employment law and the promotion of an existing senior team member, following a successful first quarter.

Steve Hartley has been promoted to partner within the firm, after joining the company in October 2015 as legal director and head of the corporate and commercial team. Before taking up his position at MLP Law, he had spent 12 years working in city centre and national commercial law firms and now has over 13 years’ experience as a qualified corporate and commercial lawyer.

His new role will see him continue his expansion of the corporate and commercial team, while also supporting the development of the firm.

Daniel Walker joins the firm as a legal director and head of employment law following a period spent working in specialist employment boutiques, bringing with him a wealth of expertise in the hospitality, retail and pharmaceutical sectors specifically. Having specialised in employment law since qualifying as a solicitor in 2006, Daniel has joined the firm to help develop its already well-regarded employment department, as well as assisting in strengthening relationships within the firm’s other commercial teams.

The appointments come following a period of sustained growth across a number of the firm’s departments, with the employment and dispute resolution arms both seeing a 10% increase in turnover. Alongside this, the corporate and commercial department has witnessed an 8% rise in turnover and the property team has doubled in size*.

MLP has also been appointed by two major high street retailers to advise on areas of employment law, and has recently expanded its corporate and commercial department with a number of new client wins.

Stephen Attree, managing partner at MLP Law, said: “We are very pleased to see Steve progress to partner and also to welcome Daniel to MLP. Both team members have a wealth of experience in their chosen fields and have impressed us with their level of knowledge and leadership skills. We look forward to seeing how Steve and Daniel can help support our continued growth and further expand both the corporate and commercial and employment departments.

“Across the firm, 2016 has delivered some really positive results and the majority of our departments have undergone a significant period of expansion. We’ve acquired some fantastic new clients and look forward to working with them to support their businesses. As we move into the second quarter, we are excited to continue with our growth plans and see what the rest of the year brings.”
