The fast-growing regulatory department at national law firm Stephensons, has posted its best ever financial results for the year ending May 2018. Fee income for the year was £1.5 million and profit in the department was also 20% ahead of target.
Stephensons’ regulatory team deals with a diverse client base across a number of sectors, including health and social care, financial services, transport and logistics, education, sports and legal services. A number of the department’s lawyers are recommended in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.
Carl Johnson, head of the regulatory department at Stephensons said: “These results cap off an excellent year for the team. We have worked hard to expand into new areas of regulation, while at the same time consolidating our existing work streams. Our priorities moving forwards are to focus on developing our most profitable areas of work and to expand our regulatory presence in London.”
Sean Joyce, managing partner of regulatory & criminal justice at the firm added: “The regulatory team was formed 10 years ago and has grown rapidly since that time. These strong figures reflect the hard work put in by all members of the team and there are ambitious plans for further growth in the future.”
